Congratulations to our wonderful Dr Shah for taking out the award for GP Clinical Contribution for 2017 at our PHO Awards dinner on the 14th November! We are extremely proud of her. Sej is our GP registrar teacher at our practice, she takes on a large responsibility of looking after our registrars. She is an excellent team player and is always willing to help the practice when in need of extra GP cover at short notice, at the same time as juggling her 1 year old son! Nothing is ever a bother for Sej and we are very lucky to have her as a part of our team.

Well done!

Why choose an NZSCM Doctor?

The field of cosmetic medicine is rapidly expanding internationally as the demand for safe, effective and affordable cosmetic procedures increases. In general, techniques are becoming more complex requiring a greater level of skill by the practitioner. Furthermore some of the products available now are not well tested for either safety or effectiveness.

By choosing a cosmetic medicine physician who is a member of NZSCM the consumer can be confident that they are in safe and competent hands. NZSCM only endorses products that have been clinically proven to be safe, effective and fully registered by a regulatory body such as Medsafe, TGA or FDA.

All doctors belonging to NZSCM have achieved a Diploma in Cosmetic Medicine, ensuring they have reached the highest level of competence in this field. This training is the only training offered within New Zealand to doctors within this field of medicine.

It is not possible to just "join" NZSCM. The training is post graduate so a doctor must firstly have fully qualified, be a fellow of the RNZCGP and may then apply to NZSCM to undertake the 2-year Diploma in Cosmetic Medicine. The diploma course involves training workshops, lectures, and written and practical examinations. Once a doctor passes the training programme they become Member of NZSCM - MNZSCM.

A Member is assessed every 3 years to ensure that they are continually practicing within the standards and guidelines of NZSCM and maintain their accreditation. Each year  doctors have to prove that they are involved in continual medical education by submitting a return of their activity in this area of medical practice.

The services that we provide at Feetness involve the use of Orthotics (foot inserts to align your feet and body), Biomechanics (the analysis of how you walk and run), Acupuncture and Podiatry to name but a few. We also offer natural foot treatments and products to alleviate your pain.

About Ramesh

Ramesh was qualified in 1983 in Manchester and commenced his career by  working in the NHS, specifically working with diabetic patients in hospitals. He also specialised in biomechanics and trained to work in a hospital’s theatres, administering local anaesthetics and assisting surgeons during foot surgery.

In 1984, he became interested in sports medicine after participating as a paramedic team at the London Marathon.

He became interested in complementary medicine in 1986 and undertook further training to gain more knowledge in this field. He attended courses at the Royal Great Ormond Street Homeopathic Hospital in London. He realised that conventional treatments were not always suitable for all patients, for example if Cortisone injections were not suitable then homeopathic could be an option.

Ramesh says…

“It is really good to offer the patients a choice of treatments which can be tailored to their individual needs”

After over 29 years of practising in the NHS, Ramesh wanted to give his patients a better quality of care and more options, so he left the NHS and with the help of his wife Sue (who deals with customer care and communications), he decided to focus on his 3 specialist private clinics in the East Midlands offering treatments from routine podiatry to full Biomechanics assessments andInjection therapy.  Together they focus on providing excellent customer care and are always happy to answer any questions and concerns to reassure there patients.

After over 3 years of successfully running the clinics in the U.K, both Ramesh and Sue have now emigrated to New Zealand to continue with the services they love to provide.

Ramesh says…

“I am always ready to get down on my hands and knees to treat those unhappy feet!”
